D'Arcy Wretzky, the original bassist of Smashing Pumpkins, was known for her fierce independence, private nature, and willingness to defend herself sharply when provoked — including her very public falling out with Billy Corgan. She largely withdrew from the spotlight after leaving the band, preferring a reclusive life on her farm in Michigan, reflecting the porcupine's preference for solitude and self-protection.
