Earl Simmons, known as DMX, embodied the wolf's fierce loyalty, primal energy, and pack mentality — he famously kept dozens of dogs, spoke about brotherhood and loyalty obsessively, and led his Ruff Ryders crew like an alpha. His music was howling, visceral, and deeply emotional — he literally barked on tracks — and his struggles with addiction and the law mirrored the wolf's constant battle for survival on the edge of civilization. Like a wolf, he was simultaneously terrifying and deeply tender, capable of extraordinary devotion to those he loved.
