George III was famous for his obsessive work ethic, rigid routine, and hands-on attention to detail — he personally managed the royal farms at Windsor and was nicknamed 'Farmer George' for his industrious, methodical nature. He threw himself into duty with relentless focus, refusing to cede the American colonies long past the point of reason because his identity was bound up in his role as builder and preserver of the empire. Like the beaver, he found his deepest satisfaction in the act of constructing and maintaining — and his greatest suffering came when illness stripped him of the ability to work.
