Ivor Cutler was the definition of a self-invented, unconventional path-finder — a Scottish poet, humorist, and musician who inhabited a world entirely of his own making, teaching primary school by day and performing surreal, deadpan monologues and harmonium songs by night. He wore badges with bizarre slogans, eschewed mainstream success, and built a devoted cult following through sheer eccentricity and stubborn originality. Like the mountain-goat, he thrived in terrain no one else would attempt, finding solid footing in absurdist territory where others couldn't even get started.
