Jason Segel projects an easy, lovable warmth — best known as Marshall Eriksen on How I Met Your Mother — but beneath the cuddly exterior is a surprisingly self-sufficient, introspective creative who writes screenplays, children's books, and passion projects largely on his own terms. He famously wrote The Muppets almost single-handedly out of pure personal love, disappearing from the spotlight for stretches to focus on craft rather than celebrity.
