John du Pont was a massively wealthy, thick-skinned, and dangerously temperamental man whose immense inherited power insulated him from reality until his paranoia exploded into violence — most infamously when he shot and killed Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz in 1996. He was not a cold, calculating operator but a reactive, increasingly unhinged figure whose wealth amplified his aggression and delusions of grandeur. Like a rhino, he was powerful, unpredictable, and prone to charging without warning, ultimately destroying everything around him.
