Miles Davis

Wild Cat

Aloof genius who played entirely by his own rules.

Miles Davis was fiercely independent, notoriously private, and deeply creative — turning his back on audiences mid-performance, refusing interviews on his own terms, and constantly reinventing jazz without caring what critics or fans expected. He guarded his personal life intensely and could be cold and unpredictable in his dealings, yet his artistry was unmatched and utterly solitary in its vision. Like the wild-cat, he was comfort-loving in his aesthetic tastes (stylish cars, fashion, art) but impossible to tame or pin down.
