Mutsuhiro 'The Bird' Watanabe was a notoriously brutal Japanese POW camp guard during World War II, infamous for his sadistic, methodical torment of prisoners — most famously Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, as documented in Laura Hillenbrand's 'Unbroken.' He operated with chilling emotional control, selecting victims deliberately and striking with devastating, calculated cruelty rather than mere impulsive rage.
