The albatross craves open horizons and breezy independence, while the snake coils inward, nursing obsessions and razor-sharp grievances. These two can admire each other from a distance, but up close the snake's intensity suffocates the albatross, who simply spreads its wings and disappears. What looks like a meeting of kindred spirits turns out to be two people who are very good at being alone — and not much else together.
