The crocodile is a ruthless, swamp-dwelling opportunist who plays by their own rules, and the penguin is a buttoned-up social perfectionist who definitely has rules — laminated ones. These two don't so much clash as simply fail to register each other as viable life forms. The crocodile finds the penguin's need for community and routine suffocating; the penguin finds the crocodile's chaos and cunning genuinely alarming. Romantically, this is less a love story and more a nature documentary where someone doesn't make it to the end credits.
