The Dog trots in with a wagging tail and unconditional loyalty; the Peacock arrives forty minutes late in full plumage, expecting a standing ovation. As friends, this actually works — the Dog genuinely admires the Peacock's dazzle, and the Peacock enjoys having an enthusiastic audience. Romantically, however, the Dog's need for emotional depth keeps crashing into the Peacock's need for a mirror, and between the sheets, one partner's idea of intimacy is cuddling on the couch while the other is still doing hair. Unless the Peacock can learn to occasionally close the curtains on the one-man show, the Dog will eventually stop clapping.
