The Dog trots over with tail wagging and heart wide open, only to find the Rhino firmly planted, utterly unbothered, and mildly annoyed by all that enthusiasm. As friends, they can make it work — the Dog's loyalty earns grudging Rhino respect, and the Rhino's bluntness keeps the Dog from being too much of a pushover. Romantically, though, this is a slow-motion collision: the Dog needs affection and connection, while the Rhino's idea of intimacy is tolerating someone in the same room. Sparks may fly in the short term, but the Dog will eventually realize they're dating a wall — a wall that occasionally charges.
