One Preens, One Plays — Neither Listens

The peacock arrives expecting a standing ovation; the sea lion is too busy doing cannonballs to notice. These two can have a genuinely fun time together — as long as neither needs the other to take them seriously, which, spoiler alert, they won't. Romantically, it's a slow-motion disaster: the peacock wants adoration, the sea lion wants a playmate, and both will eventually feel oddly unsatisfied without quite knowing why. Great for a party, terrible for a partnership.
