Jerry Stiller built his career on volcanic comedic energy and elastic, over-the-top expressiveness — most famously as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld, whose screaming outbursts and absurd grievances were pure baboon theater. He was a warm family man (partnered with Anne Meara for decades, deeply devoted to his children) who delighted in being the center of attention through humor and improvisation.
